THE ROYAL CANADIAN MOUNTED POLICE
PERFORM THE MUSICAL RIDE - CHARGE!
THE R.C.M.P. MUSICAL RIDE
You'll be impressed beyond belief when you witness this most requested feature of the Grand National's
59 year history - The Royal Canadian Mounted Police Musical Ride. It's a timeless explosion of color and
motion and a seamless execution of coordination that warrants and receives standing ovations whenever
they have performed at the Cow Palace. Once permission to begin the ride is granted by the evening's
Guest of Honor, the thirty-two riders and jet black horses begin a fifteen minute, intricate pattern of Calvary
drills and motion. Horses and riders are "one" with the music.
One of the more familiar Musical Ride formations is the "Dome," once featured on the back of the Canadian
fifty-dollar bill. However, the highlight of the ride is, without a doubt, the "charge" itself, when lances are lowered
and the scarlet-clad riders explode into furious motion. The conclusion of the performance is the March,
performed to the music of the RCMP's Regimental March, when the Musical Ride salutes the Guest of Honor
and invites the audience to visit their stables.
The Mounties and their horses will be stabled in the North Horse Barn, where you can visit with the
Musical Ride police officers, who volunteer for duty with the Ride. The horses are not only elegant,
but possess a people-friendly temperament and the Mounties invite you to learn about them.
It's a wonderful opportunity for children and a great chance for everyone to be involved.
The Musical Ride is featured during each performance of the Rodeo and Horse Show.
They will NOT be performing during the PBR Bull Riding on
Wednesday, October 29.
